Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA)

Progressive Retinal Atrophy, or PRA, is a condition of the retina in the eye. PRA is a general term encompassing many diseases which all progress over time and eventually lead to blindness. The first sign of this disease is typically night blindness. There is no pain associated with PRA and dogs seem to adjust very well to their blindness.

Most types of PRA are recessively inherited disorders. Some breeds have more than one type. To see which are relevant to your breed check for offerings from our breed list.
