Thrombopathia
Thrombopathia is an inherited disorder that is characterized by prolonged bleeding and clotting time. The disease is due to mutations in a protein that signals platelets to stick together. To date, three distinc mutations have been found in the same gene that are responsible for the disease in three different breeds: Basset Hound, Spitz, and Landseers. A mutation has been found in another gene that is responsible for the disease in the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog.
Result types: Clear, Heterozygous (1 copy of the mutation), and Affected (2 copies)
