PRA-AD (autosomal dominant)

As with many other forms of PRA, this mutation found in the Mastiff and Bullmastiff breeds has symptoms beginning with loss of peripheral vision and night blindness, leading to eventual blindness. The age of onset is generally around 18 months. Unlike the recessive varieties of PRA, a single copy of the mutation inherited from either parent is sufficient to cause the disease. Animals that inherit two copies experience a more rapid progression.

Result types: clear, affected (1 copy), affected (2 copies)
