Succinic Semialdehyde Dehydrogenase Deficiency (SSADHD) is a disease with neurological symptoms. This inborn error of metabolism causes seizures and other behavioral abnormalities when present in two copies in an animal. These symptoms generally start by about ten weeks of age. A multi-institutional collaboration reported the cause of this disease in Salukis as a mutation in the ALDH5A1 gene.
Inheritance: simple recessive- clear, carrier, affected.
